About the Journal
Purpose
The Ethiopian Journal of Theology advances the scholarly conversation in all theological disciplines. In pursuit of this aim, the journal will publish articles that are broadly evangelical in outlook and that are of interest to the theological community in Ethiopia and beyond. “Evangelical” is here understood to refer to the theological heritage from the Reformation as well as to a commitment to the authority of the Bible. The journal is published under the auspices of the Mekane Yesus Seminary, Addis Ababa.
Submissions
The journal welcomes submissions that broadly fall within the disciplines of biblical studies, systematic theology, church history, missiology, Christian-Muslim relations, and practical theology. Submissions may represent a diversity of perspectives, methods, and theological traditions.
Double-Blind Peer Review
To ensure equity in the evaluation of scholars from diverse backgrounds with respect to theological traditions, ethnicity, gender, etc., the journal follows a strict practice of double-blind peer review, which means that contributors will remain anonymous to their reviewers, and the reviewers will remain anonymous to the contributors.
Languages
Articles published in the journal may be in English, Amharic, or Oromo. Articles written in Amharic or Oromo need to offer an extended abstract in English to aid international accessibility and possible indexing to be preserved in major academic databases such as ATLA.
Publication
The journal is published once a year in electronic form. Articles are published open access, immediately being made freely available to everyone on the Internet. *A printed version will be available to subscribers in Ethiopia.
